Dr Demosthenes Vouyioukas was appointed Member of the Plenary of the Hellenic Telecommunications & Post Commission (EETT) on 30 June 2026.
He is Professor at the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Piraeus. He served as Professor at the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering of the School of Engineering of the University of the Aegean, during 2011-2024 and as Head of the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering, during 2019-2022. He also served as Director of the Master’s Programme “Internet of Things: Intelligent Environments in Next-Generation Networks”, from 2018 to 2022, and as Director of the Computer and Communication Systems Laboratory of the aforementioned Department, during 2014-2024.
He served as an Alternate Member of the Plenary of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA), during the period 2021-2026, and of the Plenary of the Hellenic Authority for Communication Security and Privacy (ADAE), from 2012 to 2019.
He has 25 years of experience in the design, operation and measurement of wireless, mobile, and satellite communication networks, as well as in security and privacy policies. He is accredited to the ELOT EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard for conducting high-frequency electromagnetic radiation measurements. He has been appointed an expert evaluator for research proposals, projects and candidate applications by Greek and international organizations. He served as Chair and evaluator in procurement tenders for major Information and Communication Technology (ICT) projects. He is the scientific coordinator of European and European Space Agency (ESA) projects focusing on electronic communications and satelite networks, as well as of more than 20 national research projects. He also participates as a researcher in European-funded projects. He has published more than 150 papers in scientific journals, book chapters and proceedings of international conferences, and is the author and editor of five books. He is a Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (ΙΕΕΕ).
Dr Demosthenes Vouyioukas is a graduate of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He received his PhD in Engineering from the same School, specializing in wireless and mobile communications. He also holds an MBA in Financial Systems from the interdepartmental postgraduate programme of NTUA, in collaboration with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and the University of Piraeus.
