Roaming charges scrapped in the EU from June 15th

June 14, 2017

EETT notifies mobile subscribers that from June 15th, 2017, roaming charges for calls,
messaging (sms) and data usage in the 28 Member States of the European Union as well as in
Liechtenstein, Iceland and Norway are completely wiped out.

This regulation concerns both contract and prepaid customers. From this date, the charges for
mobile telephony services in the EU will be equal to the ones in Greece, depending on the
subscriber’s package. However, companies do have the right to apply specific modifications to
ensure a policy of proper use, in line with the EU Regulation.

Please note that this does not apply to calls and/or sms from Greece to other EU Member
States. In that case, services will be charged depending on the subscriber’s current pricelist or
package.

The obligation on mobile telephony companies called “Roaming Like At Home – RLAH” is imposed
in the context of the implementation of the European Regulation for the complete abolition of
international roaming charges within the EU.

EETT controls the compliance of mobile operators with regard to the implementation of the
Regulation and monitors the developments in the international roaming market in cooperation with
the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) and the European
Commission.
