Reporting suspicion of criminal offenses

Hosting service providers must immediately inform the competent authority in cases where there is suspicion, based on information they have in their possession, that a criminal offence involving a threat to the life or safety of persons has been/is being or is likely to be committed (Article 18).

The competent authority is the law enforcement or judicial  authority in the EU Member State where either the offence is committed or the perpetrator or victim resides/is located at. Where the provider is unable to determine the above with reasonable certainty,  it shall inform the law enforcement authorities of the Member State in which it is established or inform Europol, or both.

In Greece, the competent authority is the Cyber Crime Division of the Hellenic Police.
