Annual Report 2024: Summary of actions

EETT has published its “Annual Report 2024: Summary of actions” which briefly presents the authority’s work throughout the year.

In 2024, milestones in the areas of EETT’s competences were the following:

The assignment to EETT of the role of Digital Services Coordinator in Greece, in the context of the Digital Services Act-DSA (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065).

  • Population coverage by 5G networks at a rate of approximately 100% at the end of June 2024, exceeding the European Union average (94.3%).
  • Population coverage by optical fibers reaching approximately 46% by the end of June 2024 (20% increase compared, to 2023), and a 73% increase in Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) lines in December 2024 compared to December 2023.
  • The fluctuation of prices in electronic communications services at levels lower than the Consumer Price Index, according to data from the Hellenic Statistical Authority. Specifically, the “Communications” sub-index decreased by 0.30%, while the Consumer Price Index increased by 2.70%, compared to 2023.
  • The completion of 20 years of number portability, with 16.7 million numbers ported, which is an illustrative example of the effective functioning of competition.
  • The operation of the Spectrum Management System, which significantly contributed to faster processing of requests for the granting of radio spectrum rights of use. Notably, rights granted for fixed service increased by 42% compared to 2023.
  • The issuance of a new Regulation on General Authorization and Individual Licences, as well as a new Regulation on the examination of user complaints and dispute resolution in the postal services sector, which enhance users’ protection and ensure the proper functioning of the market.

Also, among other things, EETT:

  • issued 853 decisions in the context of Plenary sessions, as well as 469 decisions on hearings and 439 for the imposition of administrative penalties,
  • processed 6,403 providers’ requests on issues of licensing, numbering and granting of rights of radio frequency spectrum use,
  • handled 8,599 user complaints regarding electronic communications and postal services,
  • carried out 3,346 audits.
