Tender process for the digital dividend begins
August 1, 2014
EETT’s Plenary approved today the publication of the tender document, whereby the tender
process for granting rights of use of radiofrequencies in the bands 800 and 2600 MHz aiming at the
further development of innovative services (4G/LTE) in mobile broadband, will be conducted.
The procedure was finalized after the completion of the public consultation and a consequent
decision by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks, and is fully compliant with the
current European regulatory framework. The followed procedure ensures competition in the Greek
market and access of providers in the radio spectrum they require to invest in networks and mobile
services.
According to the tender document, the procedure concerns the allocation of a total of 24
spectrum segments at the following reserve prices:
Frequency Band 800 MHz |
|
Right of Use for Radio Frequencies |
Reserve Price |
Six (6) 2×5 MHz Spectrum Segments in the band 791 – 821 ΜΗz and 832- 862 ΜΗz |
€ 51,5 million (per segment) |
Frequency Band 2600 MHz |
|
Fourteen (14) 2×5 MHz spectrum segments in the band 2500 – 2570 ΜHz and 2620 – 2690 MHz |
€ 4,7 million (per segment) |
Four (4) unpaired 10 MHz spectrum segments in the band 2575 – 2615 MHz |
€ 1,3 million (per segment) |
The tender process for all frequency segments will be conducted through auction of multiple
rounds of increasing price.
It should be noted that the granting of rights in the 800 MHz band, resulting from the
release of spectrum after the outset of terrestrial digital broadcasting, is the so-called digital
dividend.
The next step in the process is the submission of participation applications, which is set
for Monday, September 15, 2014 at 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The tender documents, detailing the rules of
conduct and the steps of the procedure is available on EETT website (https://www.eett.gr).
