Illegal radio stations cease to operate in Xanthi
August 9, 2013
Tracking and terminating operations of illegal transmissions in the broadcasting spectrum
were executed by EETT in cooperation with local police and judicial authorities at the Xanthi
prefecture, on August 8, 2013.
In particular, Xanthi Police, with the assistance of EETT’s technical experts and in the
presence of a local judicial officer terminated the operation and confiscated the broadcast
equipment of two radio stations broadcasting from the city of Xanthi that were classified as
illegal by the Greek National Council for Radio and Television (NCRTV).
Specifically, these radio stations were:
Radio Station of the Apostolic Church of Pentecost, which broadcasted on the 89.3 MHz
frequency
and
«UNDERGROUND», this broadcasted on the 100.3 MHz frequency.
This operation is part of the institutional authority of EETT for supervision, control and
optimal management of the radio frequency spectrum, a scarce national resource, with decisive,
however, importance in the provision of up-to-date and secure telecommunications services in
Greece.
