EETT summons fixed telephony companies for hearings on portability
August 12, 2013
EETT, with a recent decision, will summon for hearing the companies OTE, CYTA, FORTHNET, HOL,
ON TELECOMS and WIND in order to examine their compliance with the current legislation on the
management of fixed telephony portability applications submitted by consumers.
The summons were decided after a significant increase of rejected portability applications
was detected since the end of 2012, and as a result of the on-site compliance inspections conducted
ex officio by EETT on providers during the first half of 2013.
Number portability is a key factor in stimulating competition in the telephony market as it
offers customers the option to change providers, on a cost and quality of service basis, without
changing their phone number.
EETT continues to systematically inspect providers aiming at establishing a seamless function
of portability that is beneficial to consumers.
