Professor George Dimitrakopoulos has been appointed as Member of the Hellenic Telecommunications & Post Commission (EETT) Plenary in March 2022.
He has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Informatics and Telematics of the School of Digital Technology of Harokopio University of Athens (HUA) since 2010.
Also, he has been a research and development cooordinator (external) at a German technology company since 2018. He has been actively involved, for more than 20 years, in research and development programmes in the field of electronic communications and information technology, funded mainly by the European Union (Horizon 2020, ECSEL, Horizon Europe). In the past, he has worked as General Manager in a construction company and as a researcher-engineer in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) field. He is also active in start-ups in Greece and the USA.
His research interests are focused on the design and development of algorithms for the optimization of communications networks, with emphasis on cognitive networks, intelligent transport systems and automated driving. He is the author of three books and more than 180 scientific articles in international scientific journals and conferences.
Professor George Dimitrakopoulos holds a degree in electrical and computer engineering from the National Technical University of Athens-NTUA (2002) and a PhD from the University of Piraeus (2007).
