1. How can I become a Registrar for .gr Domain Names ?
Persons wishing to become Registrars for .gr Domain Names have to submit to EETT a written notification, along with the required documents. EETT notifies promptly all Notifications to the Registry and publishes them on the EETT web pages. The person making the notification may act as a Registrar as of the date of publication of the notice to the list of Registrars available on EETT web pages.
2. Who can became a Registrar for .gr Domain Names?
Persons or legal entities of any form whatsoever, established under and governed by the laws of a Member State of the EU. For any person or legal entity, whose residence or registered offices are in a Member state of the EU, the Notification must be accompanied by the appointment of an attorney in law in Greece.
3. What criteria have to be met in order to become a .gr Domain Names Registrar?
.GR Domain Names Registrars must:
a) posess the building facilities, human resources and information systems infrastructure enabling them to respond duly to their obligations as Registrars, in accordance with the Regulation on Management and Assignment of .gr Domain Names.
b) have available, and see to the proper operation of their own Name Servers (at least two) for providing service to Registrants, as well as for connecting these servers to the Internet Domain Name System over the network.
c) have available and see to the proper operation of the hardware and software used for maintaining the file containing the data of the Registrants, that they provide service to.
4. Is there any fee to become a .gr Domain Names Registrar?
Nothing in advance.
5. What are the regular fees a Registrar should pay to EETT?
For every act of:
-
Assignment of a domain name,
-
Activation of a reserved domain name,
-
transfer of assigned domain name,
-
alteration of name of the of the owner of an assigned Domain Name
-
alteration of the name/brand name of the owner of an activated reserved Domain Name
-
renewal of an assigned or activated reserved domain name,
the Registrar pays to EETT 11,80 Euros. As of 1.9.2005 the aforementioned fee shall amount to 12,50 Euros.
Registrars pay the fees due to EETT in amount each month for the fees due for the previous month.
6. Do I have to pay the abovementioned fees even if the application for the assignment, tranfer e.t.c. of a domain name is rejected by EETT?
No, in case the application is rejected by EETT no fees are due.
7. Is there a maximum price I can charge the assignment, renewal, transfer e.t.c. of a .gr domain name?
Yes, the Regulation on Management and Assignment of .gr Domain Names sets the maximum prices that a Registrar can charge for services related to .gr Domain Names.

8. Is there any fee for the change of a Registrar?
The new Registrar may require the Registrant to pay fees for the Change of Registrar procedure.
9. Can I oppose to the change of Registrar for a Registrant that I provide services to?
If the financial obligations in connection with the .gr Domain Name have not been fulfilled, the previous Registrar promptly informs the Registry and the application for the Change of Registrar is rejected.
10. Am I entitled to revoke an application related to a .gr Domain Name?
The Registrar may revoke an application for the assignment, transfer or change of name of a .gr domain name within 5 days from it’s submission to the Registry, if, by then, the Registrant has not payed the fees required. In this case, the application is not examined by EETT.
11. I am a .gr Regristrar. Can I apply for the assignment of a .gr domain name in my name?
According to the Regulation, a Registrar is allowed to be a Registrant only if the .gr Domain Names applied for are for its own use only. In any case, Registrars should not abuse this right by seeking assignment to themselves of an unduly large number of .gr Domain Names.
12. Am I allowed to refuse to provide services regarding the assignment of .gr domain names?
Registrars do not refuse to provide services regarding the assignment of .gr domain names without reasonable cause.
13. Do I have to keep all the documents related to a .gr domain name that are provided to me by its Holder?
Registrars are under obligation to maintain a file containing all documents that Registrants submit to them, the corresponding receipts for the payment of fees as well as other documents sent to the Registrar by the Registry or by EETT concerned the corresponding .gr Domain Names. EETT may at any time require Registrars to furnish any of the original documents kept by them concerning .gr Domain Names. Registrars forward the requested documents to EETT within 24 hours.
14. What do I have to do in case I wish to cease operating as a .gr Domain Names Registrar?
In the event that a Registrar wishes to cease operating as such, then the Registrar must inform at least 90 days in advance the Registry, EETT and its Registrants, so that they may transfer to another Registrar in time, the Registrar being in addition obliged to take every action needed for such transfer. In case a Holder or Registrant does not collect the documents that regard him within the above deadline and does not specify another Registrar within the same deadline, the Registrar destroys the documents and informs EETT, which revokes the Assignment and directs the Registry to proceed to the deactivation of the .gr Domain Name.
