Standardization
International standardisation has been active in specifying the requirements of the directive on electronic signatures. The European Commission can adopt and publish the reference numbers of standards relating to products of electronic signatures in Official Journal of the European Communities. In this task, the Commission is assisted by a committee with representatives from the member states.
Most related standardisation work in Europe is performed by EESSI , which is a joint project of the European standardisation organisations ETSI (SEC ESI WG) and CEN (WS/E-Sign) Furthermore, ETSI has submitted the following technical specifications:
-
TS 101 456: Policy requirement for certification authorities issuing qualified certificate
-
TS 101 733: Electronic Signature Formats
-
TS 101 861: Time Stamping Profile
-
TS 101 862: Qualified Certificate Profile
