Prof. Panayotis Cottis

Professor P. Cottis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1956. He received a Diploma in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), in 1979 and he pursued his postgraduate studies at the University of Manchester (UMIST), UK, and at the NTUA, in Microwave Communications.

In 1986 he joined the School of Electrical and Computer Eng., NTUA, where, since 1996, he is a Professor. During the period 1987-1997 he served as a Special Scientist at the Naval Academy of Greece.

His research interests cover the wider area of telecommunications (RF communications, wireless networks, frequency and resource management satellite communications, microwave theory and applications. He is the author or coauthor of more than 150 papers published in international technical journals or conference proceedings. His research work has been highly recognized at an international level, with hundreds of references in the literature international bibliography. He is the author of 4 technical books on the subject of telecommunications,  which are available in the market.                                                                                 

He has participated as project manager or main investigator in many Greek or other European research programs related to Telecommunications.

From September 2003 to September 2006 he served as the Vice-Rector of NTUA and the Chairman of the Board of the Lavrion Technological and Cultural Park.

Since August 2005, he is a Member of the Hellenic Telecommunications and Post Commission (EETT).
