Convergence signifies revolution in the evolution of technology.
Greece enters into the era of digital convergence, which
evolves from its simplest form (double play) to more complex
ones, such as convergence in content, networks, services
and devices. As a result, a new dynamic environment of action
is created, bringing together all the involved parties –
the State, the Market and the Consumers.
In the light of the above, the Hellenic Communications
& Post Commission (EETT) is organizing the 4th International
Broadband Conference under the topic: “Broadband Convergence
in Telecommunications and Media”, on the 20th and 21st of
May 2009, at the Divani Apollon Palace. The aim of the Conference
is to highlight, with the participation of eminent foreign
and Greek speakers, the new challenges and opportunities
brought on by the new digital era, as a product of interaction
among Telecommunications, Internet and Media.
More specifically, the aim is to highlight the significance
of convergence as a means for social, economic and cultural
development. Also, discussions will be held on the regulatory
interventions that ensure the smooth operation of the market,
and on the convergence of services, infrastructures and
internet. Emphasis will be given to the business opportunities
and the emerging challenges of digital television in a convergence
environment.
