Euripides Stylianidis
Minister of Transport and Communications
Evripidis
Stylianidis was born on 8 April 1966 in Komotini, Rodopi
Prefecture.
He is married to Giouli Papachristou and is the father of
three children, Stylianos, Elena and Georgia.
Studies:
1981-1984: Graduate of the 1st Lyceum of Komotini, where
he was elected president of the school community.
1984-1989: Bachelor Degree in Law, at the Law School of
Democritus University of Thrace.
1991-1994: PhD in Constitutional Law, Law School of the
University of Hamburg, Germany.

Military Service:
1994-1995: Artillery Corps of the Hellenic Army.
Professional Career:
1991-1994: He worked at the Greek Foreign Ministry cooperating
with the Greek General Consulate in Hamburg.
1991-2000: Lawyer at the Court of First Instance of Rodopi.
1995-1996: Special advisor to the president of the New Democracy
political party.
1997-1998: He taught in the Master's degree programme in
public law at the Law School of the National and Capodistrian
University of Athens as a European Public Law Center (EPLC)
fellow.
1997-2000: Researcher at the European Public Law Center
(EPLC).
Political Activity:
1983-1984: President of the School Board of the 1st Lyceum
of Komotini.
1984-1989: Director of DAP-NDFK at Democritus University
of Thrace. Member of the General Secretariat of Dap-NDFK
Greece. He was elected students’ delegate to the Administration
body of Democritus University of Thrace, and the Central
Council of E.F.E.E.
1987-1995: Member of the Central Committee of New Democracy's
youth group (ONNED)
1994-1995: Elected President of the Executive Office of
ONNED.
1996: Elected Member of the Greek Parliament as representative
of Rodopi, first in preference votes, but the chair was
denied due to the electoral law.
1997: Elected member of the Central Committee of New Democracy,
first in votes during the 4th Congress of the party. Elected
member of the Executive Board of New Democracy.
1999: Re-elected as a member of the Political Council of
New Democracy.
2000: Elected Member of the Greek Parliament as representative
of Rodopi, first in preference votes.
Parliamentary Activity
• The youngest member of the Committee for the Revision
of the Greek Constitution.
• Member of the Permanent Parliamentary Committee for Foreign
Affairs and Defence.
• Representative of the Greek Parliament at the “Convention
on the Future of Europe” (Constitution of Europe).
• Member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
• He often represented the “New Democracy” Party at summits
and conferences of the European People’s Party.
• 2001-2004: Deputy, domain of foreign affairs, elected
by the Parliamentary Group of New Democracy.
Governmental Term
2004-2007: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge
of economic and energy diplomacy, and developmental cooperation.
2007-2009: Minister of National Education and Religious
Affairs.
2009: Minister of Transport and Communications.
Scholarships-Awards:
1984-1985: Awarded by the Greek National Scholarships Foundation.
2002: Awarded by the German Marshall Fund (GMF) of USA (part
of the Young Leaders Programme).
2003: Awarded by the French Foreign Ministry and the German
Government.
Other Activities:
Publisher of three books entitled:
• “Grunrechte und Gesetzesvorbehalt in dem deutschen GG
und in der griechischer Verfussung”
• “Break the silence” and
• “Against the dictatorship of mediocrities. Interference
for the revision of the article 16 of the Greek Constitution”.
He has also published a series of scientific articles in
Greece and abroad, and he participated in several international
scientific conferences.
He is a member of the Association of Greek Constitution
Law Experts, of the Greek-German Union of Jurists and the
European Union for Law-Making.
Finally, he is the President of “Pandektis”, an Association
of Greek Jurists for Democracy and Law-Making.
