Michalis Sakkas
EETT Vice President
He
was born in Arta.
He graduated from the School of Mechanical and Electrical
Engineers of the National Technical University of Athens-NTUA
(Direction of Electrical Engineering).
He served in the Army as a second lieutenant in Signals
Corps (1970-1973).
He worked in the Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation
(OTE) as Telecoms Engineer in the Department of Planning
and Installations (1973-1989).
He was elected Deputy General Manager of OTE (1990 – 1993).
He worked in companies of the telecommunications field
as Technical Director and Telecommunications Consultant
between 1994 and 2003.
He has worked as a Teacher in Technical and Professional
Schools (1974-1982).
He has been General Secretary in the Ministries of Culture
and Education (1989 & 1993)
He has also been Secretary of the Parliamentary Section
of Transports and Communications (2000-2004).
He has been Technical Consultant of the National Parliamentary
Committee for the Protection of the Communications Privacy
(2000-2003).
He has been General Manager of Thermal Busses S.A. (ETHEL)
(2005-2006) and President of Athens Urban Transport Organization
(OASA) (2006-2007).
He is a member of the European Telecommunication Engineers
Federation (FITCE).
He has taken part in the Secretariat of the “Telecommunications
Forum” organized by the Hellenic Telecommunications and
Post Commission (EETT) (1998-1999).
Since August 2005, he has been a Member of EETT.
He has been a member of the National Committee against
Illiteracy, and of the Permanent Telecommunications and
Information Society Committees of the Technical Chamber
of Greece (TCG). He has been elected member of the Central
Assembly and of the Disciplinary Council of the TCG for
many years. He has also been a member of the Hellenic Association
of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers.
He has represented the Hellenic Government in the International
Meeting of UNESCO on Technical Education.
He has been publisher and editor in several technical
magazines and newspapers. Several of his articles and studies
have appeared in technical and economical magazines. He
has published two books and has contributed to the publication
of many others.

He is married with the lawyer by the High Court Anna Stevina-Sakka,
and they have one son who is a Mining and Metallurgy Engineer
of the NTUA.
