Thanassis Liakopoulos

Athanassios
Liakopoulos holds Diploma in Electrical & Computer Engineering
from National Technical University of Athens/NTUA (1996),
MSc in Telecommunications from Univ. of Surrey (1998) and
PhD in Computer Engineering from NTUA (2005). Since 2000,
he joined GRNET S.A. and for many years involved in the
management of the distributed network operations centre.
He participated in all the development phases of the Greek
Research high-speed Network. Today, as GRNET Coordinator
is responsible for the networking and computing infrastructures
of the company. He has contributed to multiple R&D national
or European Commission funded projects as technical engineer
or project manager.
Today, he participates to EFIPSANS, 6DEPLOY and GÉANT3
projects exploring future Internet technologies. He handles
administrative issues for Greek/Athens Internet Exchanges
(GR-IX/AIX). He is awarded for his performance during his
academic studies and published several articles in recognized
technical journals. He is actively involved in IPv6-related
projects in academic and commercial environments. His areas
of expertise are: IPv6 technology, autonomic network, QoS
provisioning and monitoring, IP/optical networks, network
management, access networks.
