Panagiotis Cottis

Mr.
P. Cottis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1956. He
graduated from Varvakios model high school. He received
a Diploma in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from
the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), in 1979
and he pursued his postgraduate studies at the University
of Manchester (UMIST) of the UK and at the NTUA, in the
fields of microwaves and telecommunications.
In 1986 he joined the School of Electrical and Computer
Eng., NTUA, where, since 1996, he is a Professor. During
the period 1987-1997 he occupied the position of special
scientist in the Hellenic Naval Academy.
His research interests cover the wider area of telecommunications
(RF communications, wireless networks, satellite communications,
microwave theory and applications, impact of electromagnetic
fields on human beings). He is the author or coauthor of
more than 90 papers published in international technical
journals or conference proceedings regarding telecommunications.
His research work has been recognised at an international
level, with numerous references in the international bibliography.
He has been the author of 4 technical books on the subject
of telecommunications, which are available on the market.
He has participated in many Greek or other European research
programs as project manager or main investigator.
Since September 2003, he is the Vice Rector of NTUA and
the Chairman of the Board of the Lavrion Technological and
Cultural Park.
Since August 2005, he is a Member of the Hellenic Telecommunications
and Post Commission (EETT).
