He was born in Athens in 1937 and has graduated from the London School of Economics.

He headed the South-East Asia Division of the International Finance Corporation from 1966 to 1973. He was head of the Emporiki Bank Group from 1979 to 1981, and Chairman and CEO of ΑLPHA Finance, ALPHA Mutual Funds and ΑLPHA BANK ROMANIA. Also, between 1988 and 2000, he served as Executive Director of ALPHA BANK.

Between 2000 and mid-2004, he was Chairman of FRIGOGLASS and AΕGEAN BALTIC BANK.

Also, he has served as President of the Association of Greek Institutional Investors and member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Greek Industries. Currently, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Society for the Protection of Spastic, of the Food Bank and other not-for-profit organizations.
