Mrs. Kalapotharakou was born in Areopoli, Lakonia. She studied Political Sciences and Law at the University of Athens. She is a lawyer and also Vice President and Director of the Legal Protection Office of EKPIZO, as well as coordinator of the group of 15 lawyers that cooperate with EKPIZO.
She is a member of the Civil Law Association of Greece and of the Greek Consumer Law Association. Since 1995, she has been member of the Greek Consumer Council, of the Friendly Settlement Committee of the Prefecture of Athens and of the Committee for Dispute Resolution between OTE and Consumers.
Mrs. Kalapotharakou represents EKPIZO at ministries, local-government organizations, independent authorities, market organizations and non-governmental organizations in legal issues pertaining to consumer protection. She also participates in ad hoc or permanent committees and conferences or advisory bodies, in particular with regards to financial services and consumer protection in other areas, as for instance in private insurance, telecommunications, public utility services etc.
She contributes to the formulation of EKPIZO views regarding legal consumer protection and in particular to the elaboration and legal representation of EKPIZO’s collective lawsuits against suppliers, especially in financial services issues.
She has a rich teaching and writing activity in consumer legal protection issues, as well as in issues of collective consumer protection (collective lawsuits).
She is frequently invited to participate in television and radio programmes (with over 350 annual appearances), where she is consulted on consumer issues.
