Dan Georgescu was appointed President of the regulatory authority in March 2005, after being President of a telecommunications operators’ association.

Mr. Georgescu was responsible for fixed and mobile radio-communications services in Government networks and supervised the implementation and maintenance of national radio-communications networks within the Special Telecommunications Service. Member of the Board (1998–2001), President of the Board and unique administrator of the National Radiocommunications Company, he significantly contributed to its development and modernisation, initiated and coordinated its privatisation.

1996-2003: Dan Georgescu was Counsellor to five ministers of communications and contributed to the elaboration of legislation, the process of privatisation and of issuing licenses for major national operators. 1997–1998: he was Member of the Board in the National Company Romanian Post.
